allow us to visually observe temperature differences of thermal weak points as colder ( in winter ) or warmer ( in summer ) that their surroundings. With thermal infrared cameras we can pinpoint thermal flaws in the buildings walls or attic. Everything from missing insulation, low insulation, air leaks and moisture leaks will show up plain as day with an infrared camera scan.

Infrared cameras

used with a blower door are a quick and effective way to inspect a building's air barrier. During the winter cold air is pulled in to the home by the blower door and cools surfaces along the airflow path. This cold air appears darkly streaked in the scanner. In the summer the air appears as bright streaks in the scanner. This test is best performed when there is a 30 degrees Fahrenheit difference between the indoor and outdoor air. Its common practice to view a home in natural pressure to view thermal flaws ( insulation issues ) and then depressurize the home with the blower door to observe air barrier flaws.
